A Celebration of VE Day, at Gilcrux Village Hall. Over the weekend of 8, 9, 10 May 2020

Details to be confirmed as soon as possible. Friday May is a Bank Holiday this year, instead of taking place on 4 May, the early Bank Holiday will be on Friday so the long weekend will coincide with the extended 75th anniversary celebrations of the surrender of Nazi Germany, which ended the Second World War in Europe.

Woolfest, Cockermouth. June 2020.

Woolfest is a celebration of natural fibres and of all things wool related and we’re confident in our claim of being the original British festival of wool as we were established in 2005, just as the interest in wool crafts and events began to take off in the UK.

Woolfest has been organised by members of The Wool Clip, a Cumbrian cooperative, since 2005. The aim is to celebrate all aspects of wool – from hill farming and rare breed fleece animals to the latest craft techniques and creations.

Woolfest 2020 will be held on Friday 26 June 10am-6pm and Saturday 27 June 10am-5pm at Mitchell’s Lakeland Livestock Centre, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 0QQ. Tickets will be available online early in 2020 and there will always be plenty of tickets on the door too. These will probably stay at the 2019 prices (to be confirmed), costing £10 for one day (including parking and a programme) or £15 for a two-day ticket. Accompanied children are free, disabled access is reasonable and there is no entrance charge for essential carers.

Mitchells Auctioneers Antiques and Fine Art Sale, and Vintage and Antique Toy Sales – Throughout the year at selected times, in Cockermouth.

Mitchells Antiques & Fine Art Auctions remains in Cockermouth town centre and operates from a splendid Victorian building as a specific business with a dedicated and friendly team of office and saleroom staff.

The saleroom has increased it’s profile dramatically over the last twenty years and, having been elected to join SOFAA (The Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers), is regarded as Cumbria’s leading antiques and fine art auction house. Membership of SOFAA coincided with the firm’s record sale of just over £655,000.

Mitchell’s saleroom complex is without doubt one of the most atmospheric in the country. Occupying a refurbished cattle market, the octagonal auction ring, surrounded by tiered wooden bench seating, conjures up the atmosphere of a bygone age and is completely suited to the sale of antique furniture and effects.

The adjacent gallery spaces are spacious and atmospherically lit providing a high quality setting and pleasant ambience for the display and viewing of antique furnishings and fine art goods for sale.
