Our Reviews

Can highly recommend Solway View Cottage, such a lovely place to stay, loved the room and the private lounge downstairs with the open fire. Couldn鈥檛 thank Charlotte enough for her warm hospitality and the amazing breakfast we had the next day! Definitely book in if you get the chance 馃檪 x Spacious rooms 路 Thoughtful amenities 路 Quiet rooms.

Charlotte is an amazing individual. We showed up late without prior booking and she simply said give me an hour. So we walked to the pub. Her place is lovely nice soft bed with fireplace going, super clean bathroom, so many unique feminine touches to the decor. We sat and chatted with her for over three hours. The breakfast was amazing. Meats cheese cereal jams toast fruit and a lovely table set with beautiful dishes. I would recommend this to anyone. Stay a couple of days and wander around the area or drive to the lake area. You will enjoy it. Thoughtful amenities 路 Quiet rooms.

Thank you for a lovely stay, it鈥檚 a shame it was just for one night. Charlotte has done an amazing job with Solway View. The house is impeccably decorated and absolutely spotless. We had everything we needed and more, the attention to detail throughout the house is really quite exceptional. Super comfy bed and a superb breakfast. Charlotte is a very warm and friendly lady who will make you feel right at home from the minute you walk through the door.

We spent 5 nights at Charlotte鈥檚 beautiful cottage. Charlotte was an amazing host her attention to detail is second to none. She added kind little extras to our room like wine, chocolate and snacks. The beautiful bathroom was equipped with everything you may need. The bedroom was beautifully dressed and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, continental fresh fruit, cereals, bread, meats, cheese, juice and yoghurts. Cooked was available if you required it. Charlotte also gives you the use of a lounge. There are two lovely bars to eat in the village, we recommend both and Charlotte is happy to help you reserve a table. We have already booked a return visit.

We had a great night, great room and Charlotte is very attentive. Full Cumbrian breakfast was ace. Spacious rooms 路 Thoughtful amenities 路 Quiet rooms.

Solway lodge is a wonderful place to stay. A home away from home.
Charlotte is an incredible host, attentive, friendly, and warm.
Her attention to detail is impressive.
We felt so welcome and comfortable.
We will definitely be coming back.

Such a beautiful place to stay, Charlotte was so warm and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing and the bed was so comfy, best sleep I鈥檝e ever had. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Charlotte and Suki for a lovely break xxx

Amazing stay with Charlotte and Suki! Really didn鈥檛 want to come home 馃槱. If you get the chance to stay, you won鈥檛 regret it. Highly recommended, bed was soooo comfy, gorgeous decor, massive bathroom with a shower and a big bath. Breakfast was amazing and really filling. Charlotte really looks after you, but you have your own space. Charlotte recommended nice places to eat, the local pub has really nice food, pizzas were really nice and home made and you get 10% off for staying with Charlotte! We had an amazing Indian meal in Cockermouth, which again was recommended by Charlotte! We are already planning to go back and stay for longer than 2 days next time. We miss you already Charlotte and can鈥檛 wait to see you and Suki again xx Forgot to mention the welcome drinks of wine and beer! Also on my birthday Charlotte got me a birthday card and some chocolates and sang Happy Birthday to me!! This was a really personal touch and really made me want to stay for longer. Thanks again for an amazing stay and for welcoming us into yours and Sukis Home xx

What a great place to stay. Charlotte is SO friendly & helpful, the house is spotless, and very tastefully decorated, breakfast is copious with lots of fresh & local produce.
Only one guest room, so you kind of feel like rather than having a room, you have a home, because you have your own entrance, your own living room, your own bedroom...
Everything's really good quality from the towels to the toiletries and all the little extras in case you're caught short. We even got a 'wee' bottle of wine to welcome us (and jelly beans, what's not to like, right?)
It's close to the coast (Allonby) and nearby towns of Maryport & Cockermouth, yet quiet.
There are a couple of pubs in close walking distance (we ate at the Barn with my (picky) Mum & friend, it was really good - varied menu, all four of us were happy with what we had).
Back to the accommodation, the only downside would be for folk with mobility issues, the layout just isn't suitable (no wheelchair access, stairs are a bit steep for the elderly perhaps).
But I can't fault it otherwise, we really felt we landed on our feet.
Thank you so much Charlotte.

We had a great few days at Solway View. The village is peaceful and is in a perfect location to explore the lakes.
The B&B is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and just like a home from home.
Charlotte is a perfect host and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back soon!

We stayed in this gorgeous cottage for two nights recently and had sole use of a king size bedroom with views over the Solway, a spacious bathroom with beautiful toiletries and crisp towels and cosy front room with TV. We were looking for something last minute that was within walking distance from our favourite restaurant and bar ' The Bar'n Bistro' and we were more than happy with our choice. Charlotte the owner (and Suki dog) made our stay really enjoyable. She is a lovely lady who does all she can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. There were lots of extra touches such as a delicious coffee cake waiting for us on arrival and well as complimentary wine, chocolates and delicious local home made jams and marmalades. A substantial continental breakfast was provided each morning. I'd recommend Solway View cottage to anyone and hope to visit again.
